Our History

Founded in 1999, the Cobb Schools Foundation was established by a group of Cobb community and business leaders to enhance the mission of the Cobb County School District. An initial grant of $1,000,000 from Cobb Energy was used to fund a portion of the athletic stadiums at Pope and Harrison High Schools, and used to build stadiums at Kennesaw Mountain and Kell High Schools. The Foundation is a nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees separate from the Cobb County School District.

Our Reach

The Foundation’s reach is among our almost 113,000 students, located throughout 112 schools, including 67 elementary schools, 25 middle schools, 16 high schools, one charter school, one special education center, one adult education center and one performance learning center. The Cobb County School District (CCSD) is the second largest school system in Georgia and the 23rd largest in the nation. The Foundation seeks financial support for educational programs, student scholarships, teacher recognition, student athletics and other initiatives aligned with the mission of Cobb County School District: One Team. One Goal: Student Success.

Why Give?

Cobb Schools Foundation is fueled by a motivated and generous community of individuals, corporations and foundations. Contributions are used to strengthen the ability to innovate, collaborate, and lead our students to the next phase of their futures. From providing tuition scholarship for our after school programs to college scholarships, and many other programs, we make sure that our students have opportunities needed for their individual success that might otherwise be limited by traditional school budgets. We are grateful for the support from our community and look for strategic partnerships to help us advance our students to their highest level of achievement.

Cobb Schools Foundation Makes A Difference…

In Our Students

Each year, the Foundation awards over $30,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors. The Foundation supports high schools juniors with test preparations for the SATs through Project 2400. Cobb Schools Foundation provides scholarships to children in need for after school program (ASP) fees so that they will have a safe and secure place to go after school.

In Our Teachers

The Foundation supports the world-class teachers of the Cobb County school district by awarding IMPACT Grants each year to enable funding for new, innovative programs that would otherwise be limited by the various priorities of the school district budget.

In Our Schools

Many schools throughout the district hold an annual campaign to fund specific projects at their school. From STEAM programs to outdoor gardening projects, the Foundation supports efforts to achieve the goals of the individual schools.

In Our Community

Cobb Schools Foundation is committed to partnering with community members and local businesses to enhance the educational experience in Cobb County. The Foundation honors the community volunteers by hosting an annual Volunteer of the Year recognition luncheon. Our volunteers are a crucial part of the Cobb school district and we take pride in honoring those who go above and beyond for the future of our community.
